Nugee Building - Eastbourne College

6. Pavilion night DSCF0287 Custom

This project, along with the adjoining Winn Building, combined many separate facilities scattered across the school campus into one centralised state of the art, multi-functional building.

The focal point to the Nugee building is the triple height atrium that wraps around the existing, historic school theatre. Once the rear of the theatre, with unsightly toilets and fire escape stairs, the brick and stone elevations have been brought inside, cleaned and brought alive again. This new, light and bright space is used as a gallery for the school’s art and design department as well as a foyer space for theatre and other social events. Three floors of classrooms also open out onto the Atrium, bringing a constant flow of activity throughout the day.

At its eastern end, the Nugee building links into the Winn building, connecting all of the teaching facilities with the new Sports Centre and Dining Hall. At the western end of Nugee is the new Sports Pavilion which provides stunning views across College Field. The Pavilion houses changing rooms, hospitality and seminar facilities.

This state-of-the-art development includes the following facilities:

  • Triple height atrium/foyer space linked to existing school theatre
  • 19 Classrooms
  • Cricket Pavilion with changing and hospitality facilities
  • Seminar room
  • School Shop
