Miller Bourne’s work on Eastbourne College’s Winn Building was the second phase of its development known as Project 150 which enabled the College to take a giant step forward in a very short time: 20 years’ worth of development within a two-year build, providing five high-quality facilities in one substantial build.

This part included a 25-metre six-lane competition-standard swimming pool; a five-badminton court sports hall, suitable for indoor hockey, netball, basketball, indoor cricket, volleyball, archery, badminton and indoor football; two glass-backed squash courts; fitness suite and dance studio; changing rooms; dining hall to seat 450; servery; function rooms and catering kitchen, reception; 12 a classrooms, and a staff room.

The dining hall and sports facilities are also used by players, coaches and officials during the annual Eastbourne International Tennis Championships.

The Winn Building won a Sussex Heritage Trust Award.

  • “Once prospective parents and pupils see our facilities now, the reaction is usually ‘wow!’. For us, Miller Bourne have shown us what’s possible and then made it happen. Their design solutions are always clever, always innovative. They’ve worked as our trusted partners across two decades on multiple projects, most recently the opening of the Nugee and Winn buildings, a £33-million strategic development of our teaching, sports, and dining facilities that coincided with our 150th anniversary.”
