Miller Bourne’s work with Eastbourne College resulted in a new dining hall, built on top of its new Sports Hall and Swimming Pool, in a series of connected and flexible spaces surrounded by external roof terraces.

The college’s new dining hall, complete with three flexible function rooms, servery, and catering kitchens, seats 450 pupils.

It features a large roof light over the central area and LED lighting, the colour of which can be changed for different occasions.

The space opens up onto a panoramic roof terrace, which is also accessed from a new staff room.

When not being used as a dining room, the space can be used for large functions such as the College’s annual Cornflower Ball.

This work was part of the college’s Project 150 which enabled it to take a giant step forward in a very short time: 20 years’ worth of development within a two-year build, providing five high-quality facilities in one substantial build.

  • “Once prospective parents and pupils see our facilities now, the reaction is usually ‘wow!’. For us, Miller Bourne have shown us what’s possible and then made it happen. Their design solutions are always clever, always innovative. They’ve worked as our trusted partners across two decades on multiple projects, most recently the opening of the Nugee and Winn buildings, a £33-million strategic development of our teaching, sports, and dining facilities that coincided with our 150th anniversary.”
