Christ’s Hospital School

Christs Hospital School Masterplan 4

Miller Bourne was appointed in 2022 to undertake a partial masterplan of Christ’s Hospital, looking at eight separate sites throughout the school to see how they could best improve the existing buildings and spaces and develop new facilities to help the functioning of the school going forwards.

Established in 1552, Christ’s Hospital is steeped in heritage. The present campus, opened in 1902, is comprised of majestic buildings, a spectacular Quad and sweeping sports fields. All the buildings are listed and there are over 800 boarders, with all pupils and teachers living on site.

Miller Bourne have worked at the school previously with the design and construction of the Learning Resources Centre.

This exercise looked at sites for a new combined reception and school museum building, a replacement nursery school, the consolidation of grounds maintenance areas into a single facility, and several small infill residential developments.
