As part of the 2023 masterplan for Caterham School Miller Bourne undertook the design for and new boarding house providing 60 ensuite bedrooms (including 4 accessible flats) together with common rooms a house masters house and 2 staff flats.
The site identified for the boarding house is a triangular parcel of land located on the valley side adjacent to an existing boarding house and surrounded by trees. The building in part follows the contours of the site, and in part steps down the slope. Given the proximity of the site to the woodland a palette of more harmonious materials was chosen in place of the more dominant red brick of the area.
