Miller Bourne were appointed as Executive Architects for a new Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) at Padworth Sidings in West Berkshire. The IWMF was designed to significantly improve recycling and composting rates in West Berkshire, improve management of waste, and meet statutory targets. The following individual elements were incorporated to contribute to the successful and sustainable management of approximately 80,000 tonnes of household waste each year: In-vessel composting facility for recycling garden and food waste into a useful product.Materials recycling facility for processing recyclable waste from kerbside collections.Municipal depot and vehicle maintenance facility for the fleet of vehicles.Mini household waste recycling centre offering a wider range of recycling options than those at the kerbside.Visitor centre and administration block, to allow people to see the technology and processes used to responsibly manage waste in West Berkshire
