Won in a competition organised by Newham Council, this Civic Centre redevelopment includes a new Borough Library, a 108-bed Ibis hotel, a Safeway supermarket and further retail units.
The library incorporated children’s and teenage areas in addition to the normal adult lending and reference areas. Also included was a café, local studies room, a meeting/seminar room and ancillary accommodation. It was awarded ‘Best large new public library’ by the Public Libraries Group.
