Turbines at Ashford Friars School
Planning permission has just be granted for two wind turbines as part of the main development at the Kent school. They are 15m high to the centre and will enable the development to achieve the required 'Very good' BREEAM rating, as well as significantly reducing the schools carbon footprint.
Extensive consultation was undertaken with the local planning authority to ensure that the turbines posed no noise nuisance to the neighbouring resdential properties or affected any nearby bat habitats.
The project will provide an invaluable educational opportunity for the children and will act as a focus for pupils, parents and the local community to do all they can to protect the environment.
